An Athens man charged with sodomy in connection with a female family member under age 12 is now accused in the statutory rape of a girl who is not related to him, an official said.
Dustin Ray Kyle, 22, of 6398 M.D. Rose Road, was arrested Wednesday on a charge of second-degree statutory rape.
In the case of the statutory rape, Kyle is accused of having a relationship with a 14-year-old girl who was not related to him, Chief Investigator Capt. Lance Royals said. Kyle was 22 at the time. Their relationship had been going on for several months and their age difference prompted the charge, Royals said.
In the sodomy case, Kyle was charged May 28 for having deviant sexual behavior with a family member under age 12, Royals said.
Kyle remains in the Limestone County Jail with bail set at $60,000, which includes $50,000 on the sodomy charge and $10,000 on the statutory rape charge, a corrections officer said.
A June 20 preliminary hearing is set on both charges before Limestone District Judge Matthew Huggins.
