SilverSneakers is a group exercise class designed to keep participants safe on their feet. The class will include standing and walking exercises designed to decrease the risk of falling. The Limestone Sportsman’s Club will hold its annual Kids Fishing Rodeo from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, June 3, at Club Lake on Kennedy Road, just north of the intersection of Oakdale and Pepper roads. Registration starts at 8 a.m. There is no entry fee. Children must be accompanied by an adult and should bring bait and tackle. Prizes will be awarded by age group. Habitat for Humanity of Athens-Limestone County will host a Boogie Shoes Bash from 6-10 p.m. Saturday, June 3, at the Revival Center, 303 W. Washington St., Athens. Books are priced to sell, with $1 hardback books, 10 paperback books for $1 or 12 hardback books for $10. Proceeds will go to repairing and renovating the Houston Memorial Library and Museum.

The Limestone County Master Gardeners Association and Athens Main Street will hold the Athens Garden Tour in historic Athens from 10 a.m-2 p.m Saturday, June 3. Maps and fliers will be available at the Farmers Market and outside U.G. White Mercantile the day of the tour.

The Limestone County Farmers Federation Cooking and Tacblescapes Contest is at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 6, with judging at 10:30 a.m., at the ALFA office on U.S. 72 West in Athens, across from Hobbs Jewelers. If entering tablescapes, bring your own card table. Your theme must be agricultural related. The cooking contest category is cheese balls. Prize money is $75, $45 and $35. The town of Anderson is hosting its fifth annual Anderson Founders Day from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday, June 10, at the downtown field on Alabama 207. There will be food and craft vendors, a Cruise-In for antiques and unusual cars from 11 a.m.-noon, and a kid area with inflatables and a cow train. Armbands for the kid area are $5. There will be live music during the day with headliner Wayne Marlow’s band Boomtown at 6 p.m. and a fireworks show at dark. More information: Anderson Town Hall at 256-247-3617.

Project Sweet Peas, a national nonprofit organization, will host a jamboree and silent auction from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, June 10, at Ardmore Town Park. Events include games, inflatables, a train ride, the Big Green Bus and more than 40 local vendors. Proceeds will benefit Project Sweet Peas, which provides care packages and services to families who have a child in a neonatal intensive care unit or families who have experienced infant loss.
