• Lessons from God’s Word. Jackson Drive Church of Christ, 1110 Jackson Drive in Athens, hosts a series of lessons from God’s Word presented by Will Hamilton June 4-9. Lessons are 9 a.m., 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Sunday, and 7 p.m. Monday-Friday.

• Summer program. David’s Temple Missionary Baptist Church at 11273 Stewart Road, Tanner, will host the Operation Timothy II Summer Program from 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. June 5-July 28. Cost is $260. The program is for children ages 5-13. More information: 256-232-8035.

• Vacation Bible School. Fairview Baptist Church, 27550 Nick Davis Road in Athens, will host a “Galactic Starveyor” themed VBS from 9 a.m.-noon June 5-9 at the church. There will be a family night at the church Friday, June 9, with dinner beginning at 5 p.m.

• Vacation Bible School. Oakland Church of Christ, 18111 Townsend Ford Road in Athens, will host “Me and My House” vacation Bible school at 10 a.m. June 5-9. The Auditorium Adult Class, taught by Joe Corley, will study Jesus and church in the Old Testament. More information: 256-206-2976.

• Vacation Bible School. Frazier C.M.E. Church, 1108 S. Hine St. in Athens, will host a “I’ve Got Talent” themed VBS 6 p.m. June 7-9. Guest adult teacher is Brother Kendall T. Shoulders of Antioch C.P. Church. Brother Shoulders is a motivational speaker and the author of “A Purpose Filled God,” “Jesus is a Worm,” and “Days of Noah.”

• Vacation Bible School. Coxey Church of Christ, U.S. 72 West in Athens at New Cut Road, will host vacation Bible school from 9 a.m-1 p.m. Saturday, June 10. The theme is “Bible Stories in the Big Apple.” Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. The VBS program is set in the backdrop of New York City, and Checkers the Cab and Whiskers the Cat will share Bible stories about the Wall of Jericho and Tower of Babel. Activities will include Bible lessons, crafts, outdoor activities, puppet show, skit, snacks and lunch.

• Memorial Service. Frazier C.M.E. Church, 1108 S. Hine St. in Athens, will hold a memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 10, for longtime church member Stewardess Elaine Nichols. Pastor of Jackson Chapel C.M.E. Church Dr. Shirley Fletcher will officiate.

• District Appreciation Program. Frazier C.M.E. Church, 1108 S. Hine St. in Athens, will have an appreciation program for presiding Elder Janice Lewis at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 17. Elder Lewis is the former pastor of Oak Grove C.M.E. Church.

• Family and Friends Day Program. Frazier C.M.E. Church, 1108 S. Hine St. in Athens, is hosting a Frazier Family and Friends Day Program at 10 a.m. Sunday, June 25, with guest minister the Rev. Ollie Hatchet.

• Pastor Appreciation Program. Frazier C.M.E. Church, 1108 S. Hine St. in Athens, is hosting a pastor-appreciation program for the Rev. Tina Swan-Branch at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 2. Guest pastor and church are Bishop Stanley Garrett and the Temple of Praise from Pulaski, Tennessee.
