Praise for curbside griller

Dear Editor:

I saw that someone explained to the City Council that a person was cooking on a grill quite often in front of the barber shop across the street from my office, and that is true on most nice Saturdays in downtown Athens.

I have met the young man, who is extremely nice and cordial, his full-time job being with Steelcase for 11 years. I’ve been one of his regular customers since his first cook-out, and the chicken wings or sausage are excellent, but my favorite is his pork steaks. All servings are more than ample at very reasonable prices, by far the best grilled food I’ve had since I gave my own grill to the junk man.

I would highly recommend Toney’s food, served hot at around 11 o’clock on almost any good Saturday morning. And parking is no problem.

I hope the city looks the other way until Toney’s wish for a “food truck” becomes a reality. In a way, the City could count their inaction as a means of helping this entrepreneurial young man start up a new business all on his own.

Sincerely,

Bill Hunt
