A juvenile was arrested Tuesday on a charge of first-degree sodomy, an official said.

Athens Police Capt. Trevor Harris said the department received the complaint Monday evening. The suspect is over the age of 16, while the victim is a relative under the age of 12.

The suspect was booked at the Athens Police Department and then placed in the Limestone County Jail.

Harris said the police department and Limestone County Department of Human Resources are continuing to investigate the case.
