The Limestone County Courthouse in Athens will be lit purple all week in observance of Relay for Life week.
A number of events are set for this week leading up to the annual Relay for Life Friday at the Athens Sportsplex.
Bank Night is tonight for all Relay teams in Limestone County. Thursday, the city of Athens’ Relay team will host the Dan Williams Memorial Blood Drive on the east side of the Limestone County Courthouse from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
On Thursday, the dogwood tree on the east side of the courthouse will be lit at 6 p.m. in support of the cause. Those in attendance are urged to tie a ribbon in memory or honor of someone who has battled cancer or is battling cancer. Cancer patients are also encouraged to wear purple, while caregivers are encouraged to wear white.
