Shred Day
Better Business Bureau Shred Day 2017 will be held 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, May 6, at the Calhoun Community College Decatur campus. Free drive-up services include: document shredding (three box or bag limit), electronic recycling (old monitors and TVs with large backs require a $10 fee per item), hard drive destruction and prescription and over the counter drug take backs. Lemonade Day
There will be lemonade stands around Athens and Limestone County Saturday, May 6, each competing to raise the most money for charity. The Fresh Squeeze — run by students of the Limestone LEAD program — will be one of the five stands. It will be open from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at U.G. White at 101 N. Jefferson St. in Athens. LEAD proceeds will go to Eli’s Block Party Childhood Cancer Foundation. Cost is $2 per cup. Goal is to sell 125 cups. Tips and donations will also be accepted

Limestone County Master Gardeners Association is available to answer gardening questions from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. every Tuesday and the first Saturday of every month at Athens-Limestone Public Library, 603 S. Jefferson St. in Athens.

There will be a $5 Masquerade jewelry and accessories sale from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, May 7, and 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, May 8, at Athens-Limestone Hospital’s education department. Proceeds benefit the Athens-Limestone Hospital Auxiliary scholarship fund.

American Veterans Mims-Russell Post 21, at 22769 Black Road in Athens, has karaoke night from 8 p.m.-midnight every Friday. There is a $5 cover charge at the door.
