BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Waves of strong storms with high winds have left scattered damage across a wide area of Alabama.

The Storm Prediction Center received more than 40 reports of storm damage in the state on Sunday, with trees down on roads, homes and other buildings in northwest Alabama.

Storms prompted at least two tornado warnings in southeast Alabama early Monday, but no damage is being reported.

Alabama Power says it’s working to restore electrical service to more than 5,200 homes and businesses, with the largest number being around Mobile. That’s down from a high of about 11,500 outages statewide.

The weather service says strong winds are possible across much of the state through Monday night, with sustained winds of 25 possible and gusts up to 35 mph.
