Athens native Chandler appointed dean at Austin Peay

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. — Athens native Dr. Prentice T. Chandler has been appointed as the new dean of Austin Peay State University’s Martha Dickerson Eriksson College of Education, effective July 1.

Chandler comes from the University of Cincinnati, where he served as associate director of teacher education and leadership, as well as an associate professor in its School of Education.

He earned his Bachelor of Science in Education in 2000 and a Master of Arts in Education in 2002, both from the University of North Alabama. He received his Ed.S. in 2004 and his Ph.D. in secondary education in 2007, both from the University of Alabama.

Before joining higher education, Chandler taught high school social studies in Alabama.
