A Limestone County deputy arrested two Athens men for third-degree burglary Thursday after a suspicious persons call led to recovering stolen property.

Investigator Jay Stinnett said when Deputy Terry Johnson responded to the call in the 17000 block of Oakdale Road, he found Lonnie Wayne Davis, 34, of Bell Road and Timothy Earl Siniard, 53, of Chris Way standing in the carport.

Johnson called the homeowner who then came home and noticed his door had been kicked in and several items, including a Bowie knife and guitar, were missing.

Johnson found the knife on Siniard and called Stinnett to the scene. Stinnett spoke to witnesses who said they saw Davis and Siniard carrying a guitar and amplifier across the yard before Johnson got there.

Authorities reportedly found the guitar in some grass behind the burglarized home.

Both men were taken to Limestone County Jail where both were booked on $2,500 bonds.

Davis remained in jail Thursday evening while Siniard posted bond.
