An Athens man remained in Lauderdale County Jail Friday morning on three counts of second-degree rape and one count of second-degree sodomy — all Class B felonies — for inappropriate relations with a minor.

Lt. Investigator James Potts said officers arrested Keith R. Lane, 43, of 24388 Wagon Trial Wednesday after a short investigation determined he had been involved with a 15-year-old Lauderdale County girl.

Potts said Lane was an acquaintance of the family and met the victim that way.

“It came to our attention last week,” he said. “We got enough substantial evidence on it and we were able to make an arrest Wednesday.”

Lane is being held on a $20,000 bond.
