A woman has been charged with torture – willful abuse of a child following an investigation by Ardmore Police Department, records show.

Bethany Paige Garcia, 35, of 212 Sanders St., Athens, was arrested by Ardmore police and booked into the Limestone County Jail at 3:10 p.m. Wednesday, according to jail records posted early Thursday morning. 

She must remain jailed until bail is set on the felony charge.

What alleged action prompted the charge was not yet available through court records or officials early Thursday.
