MONTGOMERY — State Auditor Jim Zeigler has announced two exit audits related to the departure of former Gov. Robert Bentley have been scheduled.

He said the scheduled audits would occur as follows:

• Governor’s Mansion, South Perry Street, Montgomery — April 17-18;

• Governor’s Office in State Capitol — April 19; and

• Governor’s beach mansion, Fort Morgan — April 25.

Bentley must be out of the locations before these dates, Zeigler said. He is expected to have moving vans at the three locations Friday.

Zeigler said he also has a database of all state property at each of the three locations.

“We will not have a situation like Bill and Hillary Clinton had when they left the White House,” he said.

Zeigler said he would also uncover information on a piece of furniture that had a very prominent role in Bentley’s alleged affair with top aide Rebekah Mason — the desk of Wanda Kelly, Bentley’s executive assistant. In recorded conversations between Bentley and Mason, Bentley was heard saying he may need to move Wanda’s desk further from his office door for more privacy.

“I will also locate Wanda’s desk and try to reconstruct what happened to it,” Zeigler said.
