Last year I suggested more handicapped parking spaces at the Athens ballpark north of Limestone Chapel Funeral Home.My suggestion was ignored. I now suggest that eight new handicapped parking spaces be added at the park in each lot. Disabled seniors who are veterans should not have to walk past handicapped parking spaces occupied by cars with no handicapped stickers.
It is a serious concern that a city ditch has been blocked by part of a beaver dam for almost two years. This failure to clear the ditch has backed water up over a wide area, causing a wet, swampy area for breeding mosquitoes. Areas affected by this are six subdivisions ‚ Annie Ray Nelson, Culwell Place, Campbell, Farmview, Vestavia and Belmont. Also, some of Lucas Ferry Road and U.S. 72 West. The people that live in this area pay taxes and they also vote. It matters to them.
