The railroad crossing at Sanderfer Road in Athens will be closed for the next “several hours,” according to dispatch reports.

CSX told emergency officials the closure is necessary so repairs can be made to a train. Dispatchers also said there are tractor-trailers at the crossing that will require assistance in turning around.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area until the crossing reopens.
