Anyone seeking employment at what could become one of Athens’ most popular restaurants is urged to submit an application to the new Buffalo Wild Wings.

General Manager David Ware said Friday 150 employees would be hired for the new location, tentatively set to open March 20 in the Eastside Junction shopping center on U.S. 72. He said a few employees have already been hired, but he still needs cooks, servers, bartenders and hosts.

When asked if he needs skilled service industry applicants, Ware said no previous experience is necessary.

“We’re looking for energetic, self-motivated people looking to come in and take care of our guests,” he said.

When asked about grand opening plans, Ware said details are still being ironed out. The restaurant will offer an opportunity to win free wings for a year, though details will be forthcoming. He said those details would be announced on the store’s Facebook page, Buffalo Wild Wings of Athens.

Buffalo Wild Wings was first announced in October 2015, though developer Bill Ming had been in talks with the chain for the previous 12 to 18 months. He previously said the chain, also known as “B-Dubs,” was ranked 19th on a list of the top 100 restaurant chains in the nation.

About Buffalo Wild Wings

Buffalo Wild Wings was founded in 1982 at a location near The Ohio State University, according to the company’s website. It became a publicly traded company in 2003 and now operates more than 1,190 restaurants around the world.

It is commonly known for its “mouth-watering wings, wide selection of premium, craft and domestic beers and ultimate sports viewing atmosphere to local residents,” according to a press release about the Athens location.

The Athens Buffalo Wild Wings features wall-to-wall high-definition, flat-screen TVs for ultimate event and sports viewing. The company’s new restaurant design captures the energy of a sports stadium and creates a social and interactive local gathering place for sports fans.

The Athens Buffalo Wild Wings is located at 22099 U.S. 72, Athens. It will be open Sunday and Monday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to midnight.

“We are very excited to be bringing the Buffalo Wild Wings experience to Athens and we look forward to becoming a part of this dynamic community,” said Bob Ruhland, vice president of North America Marketing for Buffalo Wild Wings.
