A 19-year-old Athens man was killed in a single-vehicle car accident around 4:15 Sunday morning.

Morgan Creel, of Garrett Drive, was traveling on New Cut Road when his vehicle left the pavement, hit a culvert and then a tree, causing him to be ejected from his vehicle.

The accident occurred about a half-mile from Alabama 99, said Limestone County Coroner Mike West.

Alabama state troopers and an ambulance responded to the accident at 4:23 a.m.

Creel was pronounced dead on the scene.
