Shortly after 10 p.m. Feb. 10, the police department received a call of a robbery at Hardee’s on U.S. 72 East. On scene, employees told officers a male dressed in all-black clothing had walked in with a small silver handgun.

The robber took both employees’ cell phones and demanded the cash from the restaurant, according to police Chief Floyd Johnson. The employees were then told to get into the cooler.

After a few minutes the employees exited and called the police department. There were no injuries.

Anyone with information is asked to call Athens Police at 256-233-8700.
