Job fair
A job fair for chicken plant positions to include: debone tech, live hangers, shoulder cutters and truck drivers will be held 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at the Athens-Limestone County Family Resource Center, 406 S. Jefferson St., Athens (next to Dub’s Burgers).

AHS Class of ’67 luncheon
Athens High School Class of 1967 will have a class luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Casa Blanca on U.S. 72. The upcoming 50th reunion on April 28-29 will be discussed. More information: Linda Williams Nelson 256-232-2867.
TUESDAY
MLK-themed musical concert
Athens State University’s Curtis Coleman Center for Religious Studies and Ethics will host a Musical Concert by Calhoun Community College Choir at noon Tuesday in Athens State University’s McCandless Hall. The theme is “Honoring the Legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. through Service, Justice, and Freedom.” A brief lecture on this theme will be given. The event is free to the public.

Athens tax assistance
Free income tax return preparation is underway for low income people, people with disabilities and the elderly by RSVP volunteers in Athens. The location is First Baptist Church Youth Activity Center at the corner of Pryor and Clinton streets. The schedule is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday starting Thursday, Feb. 2. Walk-ins only. No appointments. The service will also be held 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays from March 2 through April 13.
Ardmore tax assistance
The RSVP group are filing taxes free for seniors and lower income tax bracket people on Wednesdays from Feb. 1 through April 12 at the Ardmore Public Library, 25347 Main St., Ardmore, Tennessee. Call the library at 931-427-4883 for an appointment.
‘Arise and Build’ tickets on sale
Tickets are on sale for “Arise and Build,” a musical play about the history of Trinity School. The play is directed and co-written by Frank Travis and based on Charlotte Fulton’s book, “Holding the Fort.” Performances are 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3; 2 and 7 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 4; and 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, at Friendship Church, 16479 Lucas Ferry Road. Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased in Athens at The Sweetest Things Tea Room, 216 W. Market St., and Square Clock Coffee, 121 S. Marion St.; in Tanner from Head 2 Toe Salon, 19785 Huntsville-Browns Ferry Road; and in Huntsville from Verge Beauty Salon, 6140 University Drive, Suite F. Master Gardener classes
The Master Gardeners winter session of classes begins Thursday, Feb 9. Classes will meet 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. every Thursday for 13 weeks at the Tennessee Valley Research Station on Mooresville Road. Classes cover plant growth, insect and disease control, vegetables, fruits, flowers, trees, shrubs, soil, and environmental issues.
