- Agencies investigating car break-ins in which this vehicle was involved are asked to call the Limestone County Sheriff's Office at 256-232-0111.
A man suspected in a string of car burglaries at area high schools was arrested Thursday on numerous charges, an official said Saturday.
Limestone County Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Stephen Young said James Darrel McDaniel, 46, was charged with seven counts of unlawful breaking and entering a vehicle and one count of third-degree receiving stolen property. He remained in the Limestone County Jail Saturday on $19,000 bond.

Young said the vehicle burglaries occurred at Clements, Ardmore and Tanner high schools during basketball games between Dec. 20 and Jan. 5. In all three burglaries, designer purses and cash were taken from vehicles.
Young explained McDaniel’s vehicle, a white 2006 Nissan Maxima with a tan hood and bumper, was identified from security video obtained from the last vehicle burglary at Tanner High School on Jan. 5. On Jan. 18, Deputy Jeff Kilpatrick stopped the vehicle on U.S. 72 because it matched the description. McDaniel was inside the vehicle at the time of the stop, Young said.
“Investigators recovered and identified stolen property from his vehicle that had been taken the night before (Jan. 4) at Ardmore High School,” Young said. “Attached to McDaniel’s key ring was an Athens State Championship ring that had been stolen in October at Point Mallard Park.”
Investigators later retrieved photographs from McDaniel’s phone of purses and other luxury personal items believed to have been taken in other burglaries.
Young said prior to last fall, McDaniel is believed to have driven a white Nissan with a dark hood, very similar in appearance to the Maxima. He added McDaniel has been known to frequent Killen, Sheffield, Rogersville and Trinity, and is known to have committed vehicle burglaries in Athens, Limestone County and Decatur.
“Any agencies that are investigating similar vehicle burglaries where a white Altima or Maxima with a dark hood was spotted are asked to contact the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office,” Young said.
