Earth Day Expo is one of the most popular events hosted by Keep Athens-Limestone Beautiful and organizers for this year’s event are seeking participants to join in the fun.
Lynne Hart, executive director of KALB, said Earth Day is in need of volunteers, vendors and sponsors to make the eighth annual conservation showcase a success. Even though the event isn’t until April 29, she said it’s time to plan now for the fun, which draws dozens of families and children each year.
Exhibitors would include local science clubs, scouts, youth groups, students of the arts, businesses, organizations and individuals to have displays, demonstrations, performances, etc. to celebrate the event.
Vendors for the event are businesses offering environmentally-friendly products or services. These booths are invited to promote themselves and the fee for a space is waived if a door prize is provided.
KALB is also seeking sponsors to provide the necessary funding to make the whole expo possible.
There’s typically much activity jam-packed into a free event and KALB members want to keep the expo free in order to teach as many people as possible about sustainable living methods and the environment. Aside from that, if it’s free, large families can attend and give children a fun and educational experience.
“We have already gotten calls (from parents), because they tell me (the expo) is one of their children’s favorite things to do in the city,” Hart said in a previous interview with The News Courier.
