FORT PAYNE, Ala. (AP) — Authorities say an Alabama inmate has died after she was found unresponsive in her jail cell in Fort Payne.

Multiple news outlets report that Fort Payne police say 33-year-old Stephanie Renee Clines of Fort Payne was pronounced dead Wednesday evening after being taken to a hospital.

Detective Lt. David Davis says Clines was arrested earlier that day on a warrant from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office. He says she was found unresponsive in her cell less than six hours later.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating the death.
