Simmons remained in the Limestone County Jail Thursday with bail set at $2,500.

Deputy Stephen Young, public information officer for the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office, said Simmons is accused of stealing five aluminum Jeep wheels, three Ford wheels, two radiators and a Honda Accord battery from Thumpers Performance & Exhaust at 15930 York Lane on Dec. 16 or 17.

Owner Joey Haggermaker told deputies Martin Evans and Anthony Bruno he had noticed various car parts missing in recent days. He told the deputies his closed-circuit television recorded someone driving a van with a mismatched front quarter panel take items from outside the fence at the business.

Haggermaker said he gave Tennessee Valley Recycling in Athens a description of the vehicle caught on camera and, on Dec. 22, a man arrived at TVR to scrap some tires. Authorities were called to the scene.

Investigator Jay Stinnett made the case against Simmons and obtained the arrest warrant.
