DeVos unfit to serve
Dear Editor:
Betsy DeVos is unfit to serve as Secretary of Education. DeVos has provided a glimpse of her plan by what she did in her home state of Michigan.
The DeVos family heavily funded a failed push for constitutional change to allow for vouchers. She supports the rapid expansion of charter schools and online schools with minimal regulation. Despite unsatisfactory results, DeVos remains deliberately indifferent to the failure of these schools to serve the needs of communities.
As Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos could have the federal government behind her previously self-funded mission to implement vouchers and promote non-public schools. Neither she, nor her children have any personal exposure to a free and appropriate public education.
Betsy DeVos has an avowed agenda to dismantle public education and turn it over to unjustly enrich private companies and individuals. She is not worthy of confirmation.
Readers must let their Senators know.
Sincerely,
Adam Keller

A word of thanks
Dear Editor:
Thank you so much to everyone who contributed to the Hearts to Help drive held Dec. 17 for our homeless friends.
Your support and faith in two friends trying to make a difference was successful. We raised at least $10,000 in goods and services.
The Lions Den was full of gifts to be distributed so the less fortunate may experience Christmas. Steve McGlocklin, thank you for hosting this amazing blessing.
My heart is full. Thank you again.
Sincerely,
Tina Swann
