The resident told police a male caller claiming to be “Officer Steve Lyles” with the Madison County Sheriff’s Department asked the resident to return his call because there was an “urgent matter pertaining to an arrest warrant.”

Madison police said law enforcement agencies will not contact residents and ask them to pay to clear an arrest warrant or to avoid arrest because of missed jury duty.

If you receive such a call, do not call back the scammer. Contact your local law enforcement agency to report the call.
