GADSDEN, Ala. (AP) — A 70-year-old Alabama woman is charged with manslaughter in the death of her 89-year-old mother.

Etowah County grand jurors indicted Dorothy Ruth Sherrill of Attalla in the 2014 death of Vivian Elaine Brewer.

The Gadsden Times reports that Sherrill is free on $5,000 bond following her arrest Monday.

An indictment claims the woman failed to provide adequate care for her mother, who had serious medical conditions. She was an Arkansas native but had been living in Alabama for a long time.

Court records show Sherrill doesn’t have a lawyer to speak on her behalf.
