Council to consider appropriations Monday

Athens City Council members will meet again Monday to consider appropriating money to various agencies in exchange for various services.

They will also consider approving a contract with Dr. Robert Pitman to provide veterinary services and upgrading three Fire Department battalion chief positions.

Although the council met Dec. 12 and usually meets the second and fourth Mondays each month, they moved the Dec. 26 meeting to Monday because it is a holiday.

The meeting is 5:30 p.m. at City Hall, 200 W. Hobbs St. A work session about the upcoming agenda begins at 5 p.m. Both meetings are open to the public.

The following items are on the agenda:

Regular calendar

• Resolution to schedule a public hearing to hear comments on a request to rezone property on the southwest corner of the intersection of Lindsay Lane and Summit Lakes Drive;

• Resolution to approve 2017 budget year paving program. (Introduced Dec. 12 by Councilman Chris Seibert);

• Resolution to appoint a municipal court prosecutor;

• Resolution to upgrade three battalion chief positions in the Fire Department;

• Resolution to approve municipal appropriations for various governmental agencies;

• Resolution to approve municipal appropriations/contracts and third-party nongovernmental entities;

• Resolution to approve municipal appropriations/contracts and third-party nongovernmental entities with RSVP;

• Resolution to approve municipal appropriations/contracts and third-party nongovernmental entities with The ARC of Alabama Inc.;

• Resolution to approve a contract with Dr. Robert Pitman for veterinary services;

• Resolution to approve fiscal 2016 budget amendments; and

• Ordinance amending a lease of real property to Verizon Wireless.
