BREAKING: Police searching for armed robber in Athens

Athens Police Department is seeking the public’s help in finding the man who robbed a clerk at Bud’s convenience store on U.S. 31 South at Huntsville-Browns Ferry Road this morning.

Police received a call of a robbery just after 5 a.m.

When officers arrived, the clerk told officers she working in the store when she heard someone enter, Police Chief Floyd Johnson said. She walked around the corner and saw a black man, with his face covered, standing at the counter. He pulled a small black pistol and demanded money from the clerk. After receiving money, he left the store walking north.

The man was wearing a black sweatshirt or fleece jacket, blue jeans and tennis shoes.

No one was injured.
