HOOVER, Ala. (AP) — A 23-year-old Birmingham man is under arrest after authorities say he bought two KitchenAid mixers with fake money.

The Birmingham News reports Hoover police on Thursday announced charges against Demaraaron Johnson. They say Johnson bought the kitchen appliances on Nov. 11 at a local Walmart.

Lt. Keith Czeskleba said Johnson paid for the mixers using five counterfeit $100 bills.

The Shelby County District Attorney’s Office on Dec. 1 issued a warrant against him for first-degree possession of a forged instrument. He is being held in the Shelby County Jail with bond sent at $10,000.

Czeskleba said Johnson is a suspect in several other forgery cases throughout the Birmingham metro area.

Online jail records do not list an attorney for Johnson.
