- This is another shot of the man believe to be the driver of the getaway car.
Athens police released photographs Monday of one of the suspects in the Dec. 2 armed robbery in the McDonald’s restaurant parking lot on U.S. 72 East.
The photos, taken from security cameras, include a shot of the 2010 silver Kia Optima sedan believed to be the getaway car that was parked in the lot at Taco Bell on 72 and two shots of the man suspected of driving the getaway car.
A man hoping to buy an iPhone 6 from a Facebook yard sale contact was assaulted with a pistol and robbed by the suspect the afternoon of Dec. 2 outside McDonald’s.
“The victim was supposed to meet the people in the McDonald’s lot,” Police Chief Floyd Johnson said at the time. “A black male and female in their mid-20s walked up to him. When the victim got out of his vehicle, the man pulled a gun, hit him in the head with the pistol and took $250.”
The two suspects fled to the car in the Taco Bell lot.
Investigator Jonathan Caldwell is working the case.
