Dear Editor:

Sen. Bill Holtzclaw prides himself on consistently voting “no” to raise taxes. Apparently, he isn’t opposed to reallocating Limestone County’s TVA money in an attempt to plug the self-inflicted budgetary wound of Madison City Schools.

The senator was successful in moving approximately $300,000 from Athens to send across the county line and now, the wolf is in the henhouse again. It is imperative that every Limestone County and Athens City resident contact the other members of our state legislative delegation and have them say no. It only takes two to say “no,” and Danny Crawford has already done so.

Madison and Huntsville did not seek our permission to build schools in our county and now are suffering the consequences of their choice. We need to send a collective “no” to our legislators.

Sincerely,

Roundabout a mistake

Dear Editor:

Regarding the proposed roundabout for the intersection of Capshaw Road and East Limestone Road, I believe this could be a mistake.

Instead of patiently waiting their turn at the four-way stop, drivers may impatiently take risks to get through the roundabout. It could become a free-for-all during peak traffic times when East Limestone High School lets out and drivers are coming home from work.

As you can’t assume cars won’t turn left in front of you, you’d have to wait until the roundabout is clear to the left and at peak times the traffic will be constant.

Sincerely,

Randal Roper
