Two charged with attempted murder after Madison motel shooting

Two people were charged Tuesday with attempted murder stemming from a Sunday shooting at a motel on Madison Boulevard.

According to a press release from the Madison Police Department, officers responded to a call of a fight and shooting at the Motel 6 at 3:30 a.m. A group of individuals were reportedly gathered to fight in the parking lot.

The release said two individuals not involved in the fight came out of their rooms and “a number of shots were fired at them.” The victims were struck by shotgun pellets. One person was treated on the scene, while another was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Detectives were able to identify two of the suspects and subsequently served search warrants at two homes in Madison. The weapons believed to have been used in the offense were recovered and the two people believed to have fired the shots were arrested.

The release said Bernard Montrell Nash, 23, was charged with two counts of attempted murder as was a 17-year-old juvenile male. After being booked, both were transported to the Madison County Jail. Bond was set at $60,000 for each suspect.
