Elbert Dollar

Elbert Lewis Dollar, 81, born in the Sardis Springs Community on June 11, 1934, passed from this life into paradise on Friday, March 11, 2016, in a Vero Beach, Florida, medical center.

Survivors include his loving and caring wife Dorothy; brothers Everett and wife, Betty, Maurice and wife, Bonita, Charles and wife, Virginia; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in passing by his parents Elbert and Pauline Dollar; brothers Richard and William, and sisters Hattie Jewel and Paula Beth.

Lewis graduated from Athens High School in 1952 and attended the University of Alabama on a football scholarship in 1953. Lewis was a veteran of the United States Army and received a divinity degree from Howard College.

Lewis was a born-again Christian, loved all that met him and had a very loving and positive personality.

A memorial was held March 14 at First Community Church in Vero Beach, Florida. Another memorial service will be held at Sardis Springs Baptist Church at a date to be determined and announced later.
