Three men were arrested late last week in connection with a September convenience store robbery.

Diego Mejia, 27, of 1400 Evangel Drive, Huntsville, was taken into custody Thursday night on one charge of first-degree robbery. By Saturday night, Andre Clandale Brooks, 28, of 260 Wedgewater Terrace Road, Madison, and Deonte Marquis Clark, 32, of 104 Echo Lane, Toney, were also booked into Limestone County Jail, each on a charge of first-degree robbery.

All three are suspected of being involved in a Sept. 25 armed robbery at A&D Food Mart in East Limestone. The store’s owner told investigators at the time two men in masks, one holding a handgun, rushed the clerk, demanding cash. They took an unknown amount of money from the register and a pistol stashed under the counter.

LCSO spokesman Dept. Stephen Young said investigators later determined Clark drove Brooks and Mejia to the store, dropped them off and picked them up nearby a few minutes later. “Allegedly, Brooks was the gunman, holding the clerk at gunpoint while Mejia took the cash,” Young said.

Mejia’s arrest warrant lists his charge as armed robbery with a deadly weapon, so it’s unclear whether Mejia ever pointed a gun at the clerk.

All three remained at Limestone County Jail on Monday, each under a $20,000 bond, Young said.
