“December 2 – A suspect is in custody after an armed home invasion, hijacking of two vehicles at gunpoint, a shooting, and a police pursuit and standoff. The incident began and ended in Limestone County, but the shooting and one of the vehicle hijackings occurred in Giles County, Tennessee.

Casey Cole White, 32, of Athens, was arrested and charged with two counts of Burglary 1st Degree, one count of Robbery 1st Degree, and one count of Theft 1st Degree, with more charges pending. He is currently held in the Limestone County Jail. Giles County will have additional charges as well.

About 10:15 last night, White went to a residence in the 22000 block of Smith road. He approached his ex-girlfriend in her yard with two handguns, and she fled to safety inside a neighbor’s house. White then went into her house and pointed the guns at two males who were inside. They escaped the residence through a window and went next door.

The caller advised on 911 that there were two children still downstairs in the residence. White fired multiple shots inside the house, shooting and killing a dog in the process.

White then fled on foot. When deputies arrived, they observed blood on the floor and the dead dog, but were able to safely retrieve the two children, who were unharmed.

About 11:30 p.m., Limestone County Sheriff’s Office received another 911 call, this time from the 19000 block of Looney Road. The victim had been confronted by White, who came to his door and held him at gunpoint demanding money. When he told White he didn’t have money, White took his keys from him and left in his Ford Explorer.

About 30 minutes later, White approached a woman in a vehicle at the Tennessee welcome center on I-65. When she refused to open the car door, he fired multiple times into her vehicle, striking her once in the left arm. He then drove north to (Exit 22), where he hijacked (the owner of) a white Lincoln sedan at gunpoint.

White drove the Lincoln south into Limestone County, where deputies observed the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop.

White fled south on US Highway 31, reaching speeds of well over 100 miles per hour, until he got the vehicle stuck south of Huntsville-Brownsferry Road in a field. After a lengthy standoff, Sheriff Mike Blakely talked White into surrendering peacefully.”
