SPANISH FORT, Ala. (AP) — The attorney for a south Alabama high school football player charged with raping a 16-year-old girl says accusations against the teen are unfounded.

Attorney John Beck told WKRG-TV in a statement Friday (http://bit.ly/1lnx2cx ) that 18-year-old Cameron Harrison has been wrongfully accused by a classmate at Spanish Fort High School and he’s disturbed by a rush to judgment in the case.

Prosecutors allege Harrison had sex with a 16-year-old girl who passed out after drinking alcohol at a house party last month. Beck disputes that and says he wants Harrison’s charge dropped.

Students recently attended a football game with a sign and other shows of support for Harrison after the allegations surfaced. Baldwin County school superintendent Eddie Tyler criticized the show of support.
