TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — Authorities have arrested two people in the death of a woman found tied to a tree and stabbed to death in a national forest.

The Tuscaloosa News (http://bit.ly/MKDHvj ) reports that the victim was identified as 29-year-old Samantha Christine Payne. Payne was reported missing from her Chilton County home last week.

Michael David Belcher, 31 and Chylli Bruce, 18, have been charged with capital murder. It was not immediately clear if either had an attorney.

Tuscaloosa County Sheriff Ron Abernathy told the paper that more arrests are possible.

Hunters discovered Payne’s body Monday morning in the Talladega National Forest in southern Tuscaloosa County.

Abernathy did not reveal a possible motive in the slaying. Investigators believe Payne was assaulted in another county and then taken to the forest where she was killed.
