HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Police say a man has been charged with murder in the death of a woman whose body was found behind a shopping center in Huntsville.

Huntsville Police told local news media Sunday that 41-year-old William Lewis Payton has been charged with murder in the death of his 27-year-old girlfriend Tonya Lynn Amerson. Her body was found early Friday behind the Valley Bend Shopping Center, and Payton was arrested later that night.

Payton is being held in the Madison County Jail without bond. It’s not clear whether Payton has an attorney.

Police haven’t released the details of Amerson was killed.

Payton was on probation for a 2014 drug conviction.
