• Men’s prayer breakfast. Frazier CME Church, 1108 S. Hine St., Athens, will host a Men’s Empowerment Prayer Breakfast with fellowship at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10. Special guests include Pastor John Jude, of the Pleasant Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and Christopher McWilliams.

• Anniversary. Peace Missionary Baptist Church, at 1214 Plainview Circle in Athens, invites the public to join them in celebrating the Rev. Dr. Jevon D. Turner Sr.’s second anniversary at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11. New Beria M.B. Church Pastor Corey Thomas will handle the 11 a.m. service. St. Mark P.B. Church pastor Kenneth Owens will oversee the 2 p.m. service.

• Chicken stew. Round Island Baptist Church, at 14790 Brownsferry Road in Athens, is holding a chicken stew with entertainment in the MAC at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10.

• Gospel meeting. The gospel of Christ will be preached Oct. 11-13 at the Northside Church of Christ, 1201 N.
