A Huntsville woman accused of cashing a $342 counterfeit check at an Athens grocery store has been charged with second-degree possession of a forged instrument, an official said.
Charity Humphrey, 28, of 4041 Knight Road S.W., Apt. A-2, was arrested on a warrant charging her with second-degree possession of a forged instrument, records show.
In June 2013, a counterfeit check was cashed at Hometown Grocery on South Jefferson Street, Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson said.
Investigator Jonathan Caldwell obtained the warrant for Humphrey after he determined she had possession of the check, the chief said.
Humphrey was booked at the Police Department and transferred to the Limestone County Jail, where she was released after posting bail of $2,500 on the felony charge.
