An Athens man was arrested after investigators saw several marijuana plants growing in his backyard.
Robert Michael Musick, 38, of 7 Sandra Lane, was charged with one count of first-degree of possession of marijuana and a failure to appear on an overgrown lawn violation.
Police Chief Floyd Johnson said the police department received information several marijuana plants were growing at 7 Sandra Lane.
“When investigators checked the information they could see the plants growing in the backyard,” Johnson said. “The owner of the property refused our request to go in the backyard.”
Investigators secured the area and obtained a search warrant, according to Johnson.
Eight marijuana plants, reaching from 3 to 10-feet tall, were seized.
“We estimate if all the leaves were harvested, the weight would be from 15-20 pounds,” Johnson said.
Musick was booked at the Athens Police Department and transferred to the Limestone County Jail where he remained Monday evening on a $6,000 bond.
