- Dozens of students mill around inside the football stadium at Athens High School. The school was evacuated this morning after a bomb threat was called in to the school. Parents may pick up children at the rec center.
Athens High School officials are reporting all students are safe after this morning’s bomb threat and will be allowed to leave with a parent. Numerous law-enforcement officers are still on the scene investigating the threat. There are significant traffic jams on Hobbs Street and U.S. 31, so drivers are urged to use caution in those areas. Police Chief Floyd Johnson has urged parents to be patient when picking up children. The News Courier will have more information as it becomes available.
