Limestone traffic stop nets marijuana, pills, acid

An Ardmore man is facing five drug charges after a Limestone County Sheriff’s deputy stopped him on Alabama 127 at Cross Key Road and noticed the smell of marijuana, an official said.
Deputy Stephen Young, public information officer for the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office, said Thursday a deputy stopped Nicholas Andrew Calvert, 19, 26865 Whitt St. on Alabama 127 late Wednesday. While approaching the vehicle, the deputy detected “a strong odor of marijuana” emanating from the vehicle and noticed someone stuff marijuana in the glove compartment, Young said. Also during the stop, the deputy found Xanax, hydrocodone, Suboxone and acid (LSD) strips, Young said.

Calvert was charged with one count of illegal possession of marijuana and four counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, records show. He was released Thursday from the Limestone County Jail after posting $21,000 bond, records show.
Another man, who was in the front passenger seat, fled the scene on foot, an official said. Investigator David Inman is seeking the man who fled, the official said.
A 15-year-old backseat passenger was also charged, the official said.
