Man gets 6 life sentences in 2012 killings of 5 men in Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — A Birmingham man has been sentenced to serve life in prison after he was convicted in the 2012 killings of five men found dead in a home.
Al.com reports (http://bit.ly/1HZiULX ) Jefferson County Circuit Judge Stephen Wallace on Thursday sentenced 20-year-old Rashad Stoves to serve six life sentences. The sentences are to run concurrently, and Stoves could eventually be eligible for parole.
Stoves was charged with one count of capital murder for each man killed and a sixth count for a multiple slaying. But a jury on Dec. 1 convicted him on the lesser charges of five counts felony murder and one count of reckless manslaughter. Jurors also acquitted him in a robbery committed two hours before the killings.
Artavius Underwood and Reginald Mims were also charged with capital murder in the deaths. Underwood pleaded guilty and got a life sentence. Mims pleaded guilty to five counts of felony murder and a robbery charge and got 25 years.
