An Athens man — Bradley Clayton Owens — has been charged with possession of obscene material for allegedly having child pornography on a computer at his home, an official said.

Following a joint investigation by sheriff’s departments in Limestone and Madison counties, officials obtained a search warrant on Dec. 22 to seize the computer of Owens, 21, of 27274 Nye Road, Chief Investigator Capt. Stanley McNatt said Wednesday. Following a search of the computer’s contents, investigators discovered child pornography, he said. Limestone County Sheriff’s Investigator Leslie Ramsey obtained an arrest warrant for Owens, and he turned himself in to authorities Tuesday, McNatt said.

Owens exercised his right to decline to be interviewed by the investigator and to request an attorney, McNatt said.

He was released from the Limestone County Jail after posting bail of $5,000 on the felony charge.
