PHENIX CITY, Ala. (AP) — An eastern Alabama father is facing a murder charge in the death of his 3-month-old daughter.
Phenix City police say 30-year-old Robert Allen Earhart Jr. of Phenix City was charged with capital murder after police questioned him about the Jan. 17 death of Alaina Brodka.
Assistant Police Chief Robert Casteel said the child was taken to a hospital from the family’s home at Steeple Crest Apartments on Riverchase Drive.
Casteel said police questioned Earhart after an autopsy showed that Alaina died from blunt-force trauma to the head.
The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer reports (http://bit.ly/1H5kIq4) that the child, who was born in Oct. 19 in Columbus, Georgia, was also known as Alaina Addison Earhart.
It wasn’t known whether Earhart, who was being held in the Lee County Jail, has an attorney.
