TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — A judge has sentenced a Tuscaloosa County woman to 25 years in prison in the shooting death of her ex-husband.

At trial, prosecutors said Tracey Grissom opened fire on her former husband, Hunter Grissom, at a boat ramp in May 2012 because she wanted to collect more than $100,000 in life insurance. She was convicted last month after jurors deliberated about 90 minutes before returning the verdict.

Tracey Grissom testified she shot her ex-husband in self-defense. Her attorneys had argued she was suffering from post-traumatic stress at the time of the shooting because of abuse she had suffered at the hands of her former husband.

WIAT-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1A34lBD ) the judge on Tuesday also ordered Tracey Grissom to pay restitution in an amount yet to be determined.
