Belle Chevre Creamery will hosts the first annual ‘Running with the Goats’ Saturday in downtown Elkmont. The event will feature a 10K, 5K and fun run on the certified Rails to Trails course.

Participants will have a chance to run a fast, certified course on a shaded trail as well as enjoy a fun run with the goats.

“Because we have this trail here, we thought how much fun would it be to have a “Running of the Goats,” said Tasia Malakasis, owner of Belle Chevre. “We just built this new creamery and have a certified course right here. We are in a position where we have these sweet little animals that kids would love. It’s a way where we can interactive with the community and they can interact with us.”

The event will begin with the 10K race at 7 a.m. followed by the 5K at 9. A fun run will begin at 10 a.m., followed by awards, raffle and after-race party featuring a live band.
