Athens debris collection extended

- Lewis Turner with Athens Streets Department operates a backhoe Wednesday on West Market Street. Turner and others worked to remove storm-related vegetative debris from the right of way. The city of Athens has extended its debris pickup deadline to July 11. Citizens should place vegetative storm debris in the right of way but not in the street or ditch. After July 11, the city will resume normal trash collection with a limit of up to four cubic yards per resident per week.
