Ardmore sweeps North Jackson en route to 3rd round

Cody Reed whiffed 20 batters in a 5-1 opening game win and the Tigers took the second game 15-4 to eliminate North Jackson and advance to the third round of the 4A state baseball playoffs.

Ardmore trailed in the opening game until a big fifth inning produced a 4-1 lead.

Donny Rogers led the way with three hits and four RBIs. Ardmore added another run in the top of the seventh and North Jackson couldn’t touch Reed in the final inning.

The Tigers carried that momentum into the second game where their bats came alive to knock in eight runs in the opening inning. Hunter Moore had the big bat with three hits and four RBIs.

Ardmore added two runs over the next two innings and three more in the bottom of the fourth to leave North Jackson with a 15-4 win in four and half innings.

The No. 5-ranked Tigers advance to the third round of the state baseball playoffs for the second consecutive season. Last season, they reached the semifinals for the first time in school history before losing to Brooks.

Ardmore will host Oneonta for a third-round series Friday.
